R&D Technologies Weekly Tech Tip - December 8, 2008

Drawing Sheet Quick View

SolidWorks 2009 now allows a drawing sheet to be opened with a “Quick View” option.  (File, Open, select the drawing document, place a check to enable Quick View.)  How many times have you loaded a complex drawing, only to find out it was the incorrect file?  Using the Quick View option will certainly help save valuable time.

A multi-sheet drawing opened with the Quick View option will allow you to quickly toggle through the sheets without loading the model into memory.  Once you decide which sheet you need to work on, it can be loaded by right clicking and choosing “Load Sheet.”  Rather than loading all of the sheets into memory, you’re now able to selectively load drawing sheets to save valuable memory resources on your machine.
